Concerned about online security and child protection, BNP Paribas has decided to take further action by supporting the E-Enfance (‘E-Childhood’) blog (www.e-enfance.org/blog in French only). This association aims to respond to the worries of the many parents who feel that their children have a better command of new technology than they do.
There are indeed numerous concerns from the parents of children and teenagers who are already ‘hooked’ on the Net: excessive time spent in front of the computer, staying up late surfing the Internet, communication with strangers, easy access to pornographic images.
These are the types of issues, based on individual experience, that the E-Enfance blog wishes to relate. The aim: for parents to share their questions within the context of the association and to draw mutual benefit from solutions they have found that put their minds at rest. E-Enfance can then help them by providing information and offering advice.
To raise parents’ awareness of the importance of educating their children about the web as they do in their everyday life, E-Enfance is launching an extensive information campaign, from 25 April to 15 June 2007, with 2 adverts to be shown on television, in cinemas, online (Dailymotion, Google Video, portals of all the Internet Service Providers) and via mobile phones (MMS).
About the E-Enfance association
E-Enfance (www.e-enfance.org in French only) is a voluntary association that seeks to enable children to use the Internet safely. E-Enfance is mainly known to the general public for comparison tests on parental control software (filtering of content unsuitable for minors) provided by Internet Service Providers (ISPs), carried out in conjunction with the Ministry of Family Affairs and the Ministry for National Education/Delegation for the Use of the Internet (DUI). The E-Enfance association has thus been able to put pressure on ISPs to improve the quality of their software for filtering inappropriate sites and for the benefit of young children.
