[Update your system] - [Antivirus] - [Firewall] - [Anti-spyware] - [Last but not least …]
Spywares (contraction of «spy» et «software») is spy software that you unwittingly download by accident when surfing the Internet. They are going to capture information concerning you (such as your navigation habits) and send them to a third party, and without you being aware of all this. Not only does spyware infringe on the user's private life (the legislation in some countries bans them) but when a lot of spyware has been installed on a computer this slows down its performance and may inconvenience the user.
To protect yourself against this type of nuisance, you need to use anti-spyware software.
Like antivirus products, these can operate in real time blocking the installation of spyware on your computer and/or they can propose launching a scan in order to detect and eliminate spyware already installed on the system.
Their operation is also based on a database of signatures, so it is necessary to update them regularly.
You can get anti-spyware products from the editors in the market (Sophos, Symantec, MacAfee, ZoneLabs, etc).
